Many of the roofs in Kolmanskop are now little more than exposed rafters, casting shifting patterns of light and shadow across the buildings below.
In this image, the window frames a stark view of the surrounding desert, contrasting the textured, weathered interior with the brightness and simplicity of the landscape beyond. The angled bands of light emphasise the geometry of the structure, while drawing the eye outward, blurring the boundary between inside and outside.
Shadow play is available as a 24 x 36 cm print in a limited edition of 10. It is printed on 300 gsm cotton rag Fotospeed paper with a Canon professional printer and can be purchased unframed or framed. The images here are framed with 3 cm black wood and measure 46 x 57 cm. Unframed images come mounted on a soft white board.
