The doors and windows of Kolmanskop are the last cultural remnants of a German diamond mining community established in the Namibian desert over 100 years ago. Remarkably, many decorative features remain, lending themselves to images that are both timeless and modern.
A doorway seemingly suspended in time, held in place by encroaching desert sands. The effect is created by wind-blown sand gradually filling the room. While often photographed, each interpretation is unique, shaped by light, perspective and the ever-changing movement of sand.
Sands of time is available as a 55 x 37 cm print in a limited edition of 10. It is professionally printed on 300 gsm smooth cotton Fotospeed paper and can be purchased unframed or framed.
