Punalu'u is a tranquil beach on the southeast coast of Hawai'i's Big Island. Its striking black sands provide a natural refuge for the sea turtles that rest here, while strong ocean currents help deter other predators.

Just beyond the shoreline lies a series of small anchialine pools, home to invasive yet visually striking blue star lilies. In these sheltered waters, the dark tones of the volcanic sand create a natural backdrop, allowing the delicate blue petals to stand out in vivid contrast.

I photographed Quiet Reflections when I visited the Big Island in 2016. I am now offering it as a 68 x 38 cm print in a signed, limited edition of 10. It is professionally printed on 300 gsm smooth cotton Fotospeed paper and can be purchased unframed or framed. The images here are framed with 3.5 cm black wood and non-reflective glass. The total size is 91 x 61 cm.
