The rivulets created by Iceland’s glacial melt often form striking patterns as they flow towards the ocean, mixing with gravel, copper-toned silt and black sand. Subtle variations in sediment and water depth create shifting bands of colour, transforming the landscape into a series of abstract forms.

Images such as this are only possible from a helicopter, as drones are prohibited in Iceland’s nature reserves. This moment coincides with three eider ducks passing beneath, their small scale providing a discreet point of reference within a wide and dramatic landscape.

Eider Duck over the Ölfusá delta is currently available as a 55 x 44 cm print in a signed, limited edition of 10. It is printed on 300 gsm smooth cotton Fotospeed paper and can be purchased unframed or framed.
