Deadvlei is a white clay pan in the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Its name, meaning ‘dead marsh’, reflects the stark presence of ancient camel thorn trees that died over 600 years ago and now stand as dark, skeletal forms against the landscape.
While these iconic trees have been photographed countless times, no two interpretations are ever the same. In this image, the emphasis is on the striking contrast between the deep tones of the tree skeletons and the luminous orange dunes beyond, creating a composition that is both graphic and atmospheric.
